We are adding another photo to our “Do Radiant Barriers Really Work” album. Once we ran into the basement insulation in this home, it was a reminder to share a few key points.
First, what you are looking at is foil faced fiberglass insulation. The product is a combination of traditional fiberglass, offered by the bat or roll and designed to fit into the stud or joist bays.
Secondly, every major fiberglass provider offers a foil faced line of products. Look closely at their product lines. They all carry products that utilize reflective foil as a heat blocking insulation. They simply make sure the products are always used in conjunction with fiberglass. The pictures are of insulation manufactured by Owens Corning, one of the largest fiberglass producers in the world. Pink panther even likes radiant barriers!
