There is no more awful feeling of filling your washing machine with a load of clothes adding detergent and hearing silence when setting to the on position. What is wrong? Why is it not working? These are the first questions that come to mind in this situation.

Either call a certified service technician or attempt to find the issue on your own. If you are moving forward on your own you should turn off and unplug the machine to avoid possible electrical shock.

One of the first things to check is if the machine is plugged in. Someone may have unplugged for whatever reason or the cord may have come loose in the back if the machine was bumped into or jarred since the last operation. If plugged in an ohm meter will be needed. Check the outlet for voltage with an ohm meter and the cord itself for damage. Here are some helpful reasons why your washer machine is not draining. Remember to shut off power and unplug machine to avoid electrical shock:

  1. Check the drain hose for any kinks or clogs which may be preventing water from draining out of the unit.
  2. Check if lid switch it may be broken and needs to replaced. Press and release the lid switch. If it doesn’t click each time you do this, it is likely broken.
  3. Check the drain pump for foreign objects restart machine then check for drain pump failure. If failure found replace drain pump.
  4. Check the inlet valve for proper shut off.
  5. Check the pressure switch for proper operation.
  6. Consider calling a certified service technician.

The following our steps necessary to replace a basic bake element.

The first step and most important for your physical safety is to shut off power to the unit and unplug to avoid electrical shock. Make sure the power is OFF before proceeding.

Accessing the bake element requires opening the oven door and removing the oven racks. Next, remove the mounting screws from the element mounting plate. The screws are holding the element in place.

Pull forward from back of oven wall and remove the wires by removing the lead screws from the terminals or by pulling wires off the bake element terminals.

Take the replacement element and reconnect the leads to the correct terminals while tucking surplus wire behind insulation. In the event only two wire are going to the matter it does not matter which wire terminal the leads go on. Then line up holes and reinstall new element using existing screws.
